Welcome to the NERC Biogeochemical Gradients and Radionuclide Transport (BIGRAD) website

BIGRAD is a UK NERC funded consortium grant (led by Prof. Katherine Morris) which will develop a better understanding of the geochemical and microbiological evolution of the subsurface environment surrounding a radioactive waste geological disposal facility (GDF).

**BIGRAD Investigator Prof. Jon Lloyd listed as one of the UK's top 100 scientists; read about it here**

**Read about the IGDTP Geodisposal 2014 Conference hosted at Manchester June 24th - 26th and with the BIGRAD team attending, click here**

Further information about the science of BIGRAD can be found on the Project information page. Alternatively, you can view the latest BIGRAD Newsletter (click here) or download it from the link at the bottom of this page. Background information on the geological disposal of nuclear waste can be found here.  Information on our recent activities is posted on the Latest news page. Further information about the collaborating institutes and associated research staff can be found on the who we are page.
